Stewards of the King

Ephesians 2:10 (NIV) For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do

One of the things that make humankind unique is the fact that they are created in the image of God. This sets us a class apart from all other creation. God did it so that we should participate in His economy. We are stewards of the King of kings. “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10). This is a grand mission!

As mentioned earlier, humankind was created in the image of God. As the bearer of God’s image, humankind shares—albeit in very insignificant ways—certain attributes with God. For instance, human beings are spiritual, rational, relational, moral and volitional. As rational beings, humans are creative. They are co-creators with God. As moral beings people are accountable for their actions. God has endowed humankind with abilities to create and innovate through art, music, poetry, technology, business, and many other areas. God has given us minds to worship Him.

We should however have a balanced view of humanity. Although human beings have been created in in the image of God, they are also rebellious. They have been affected by the Fall, and because of this they do not naturally do what is right before God. In fact, they are inherently hostile to God. That’s why everyone needs the Savior Jesus Christ, so that through Him they can be restored to their original purpose.

  1. Emma,
Blessings to you and your family! Thank you for all you do for and in the Name of Jesus Christ.
To me, this posting is even more compelling when I remove the word “they” and use in it’s place, “I” or “me.”
Praying for you with each remembrance.
    Doug
