Be Still and Know

Psalm 46:10    “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” (NIV)

Today (Monday) didn’t start out well for me. I have been battling malaria parasites for the last week. The medication I took last night to “clear out” the remaining bugs (according to the medical personnel who treated me) did work me out. I woke up feeling very week, but before I could call my place of work to tell them that I would be reporting late, I had other news. Thieves broke into our church building on Sunday night and stole all our sound equipment (speakers, amplifier, microphones, etc.) and over 30 chairs. At this point, my hormones took a better part of me: I jumped out of bed, rushed to the church, went to report to the local authorities and police… As write this devotional, there are no leads to who could have been involved in this. We are a small congregation and everything we have has cost us a bit to have it place.

But I am also aware that what I am going thought right now is not the worst experience. I am suffering from malaria but I am strong enough to get up and go to my office. I can even type on a computer; otherwise you wouldn’t be reading this devotional! I know there is someone out there diagnosed with cancer, or battling HIV/AIDS; dealing with unbearable pain. Yes, we have lost the church equipment, but I know there are people in Nepal and other places who have lost everything due to natural disasters or human action. I don’t know you are going through right now.

Today God wants to remind us that He is God in every situation. “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10   (NIV)

  1. Lifting you and your church up in prayers for good health and full recovery from your sickness, for justice for the ones who stole from the church and for provision for the replacement of the stolen items.

    Blessings.
