Biblical Portraits of the Church

  1. Called to Belong

It is community of those who have been called to belong to Christ and participate in God’s cosmic plan of bringing all things under the authority of Jesus Christ.

For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love  he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. Ephesians 1:4-6

  1. Redeemed and Forgiven

It is a community of the redeemed and forgiven, who extend the love, grace and salvation of Jesus Christ to others.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith– and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:8-10

  1. Unity in Diversity

It is a community of people of diverse cultures and backgrounds united by the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, Ephesians 2:14
